What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a healing therapy based on the principle that every single part of our body has a corresponding reflex point on the feet and hands, in & around the ears and on the face. Stimulating these points can help many health problems in a natural way, allowing the body to use its own resources to heal itself. At its heart, Reflexology strives to balance and harmonise. It is non-invasive and drug-free.
Recipients of this gentle therapy have reported that it aids relaxation and restful sleep, improves mood, relieves tension and improves well-being. It is well known that it has a positive impact on lowering stress, and having regular treatments can help to strengthen the immune system. It eases tired soles and is also used as a highly effective aid to complement cancer care and mental health care.
Benefits of Reflexology
Having regular treatments has been shown to be beneficial for numerous conditions - some of which are listed below:
What you need to know about your Reflexology Treatment
On your first visit, there will be a consultation with myself to discuss your current health concerns. Following this I will begin to work on your feet or hands, using a variety of techniques. There may be mild discomfort in some places, but it is fleeting and is an indication of congestion or imbalance in a corresponding part of the body. These reactions will be noted for future reference. For most part the experience will be gentle and soothing.
You need to remove only your shoes and socks. I will clean your feet before treatment, so please do not be concerned about this. Although not mandatory, wearing loose clothing will ensure you are not restricted during treatment.
Following a treatment, a feeling of well-being is usually noted though sometimes people report feeling tired or tearful; this is transitory and is part of the healing process. This is good information to feed back to myself as it shows how your body has responded to treatment.
